About
The Column is an email newsletter I started in the summer of 2020 while studying chemical engineering at Texas A&M. Now, 6 years and 500+ editions later, I've spent thousands of hours reading about the industry and summarizing my thoughts for 10,000+ subscribers. Today I send the newsletter weekly, and the topics I cover reflect what I personally find to be interesting and/or important.
I'm still not sure what it is exactly, but this industry fascinates me. The process technology underpinning the chemical industry is already far down the learning curve, approaching an asymptote limited by thermodynamics, and yet we still see innovation—it's just frequently marginal. Big ideas tend to die because capital is expensive and there are so many higher ROI places to put it than in this industry.
In any case, I hope you'll subscribe. Feel free to reach out to me or reply to my emails anytime.
